Obituary for Donald F Raffier

BARRE- Donald F. Raffier,76, passed away on September 10,2017 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He leaves his loving wife of 53 years Annette (Ethier) Raffier; 2 sons Mark Raffier and his wife Tammy and their 2 children Kaitlyn & William of Jacksonville,FL., Commander John Raffier retired USN & his wife Linda and their 2 sons Nathaniel and Benjamin of Woodbridge,VA.; a sister in law and brother in law Tricia and Gerard Ethier of York,ME.; a sister in law Anne Marie Ethier of Holden and many loyal and wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his parents Francis and Clemence (Phaneuf) Raffier and a sister Elaine Thomas.

He graduated from Barre High School in 1958, Salem State College with a B.S. Degree in 1962and received his masters from Worcester State in 1968. He dedicated his life to education. He started his teaching career in Ware,MA.. He was head of the business department at Nashoba Regional in Bolton,MA. before moving to the Quabbin Regional School district in Barre where he served for 33 years as business director,associate principal, junior high principal and many years of service as director of administrative affairs. He was happiest when surrounded by his family.

The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff of UMass Memorial Hospital especially Dr. Cynthia Jeremiah, Dr. Jennifer Yates and Dr. Neil Kluger for their care and compassion.

Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Monday,September 18,2017 from 5-7PM in Pillsbury Funeral Home 96 S.Barre Rd. Barre. The funeral will be held on Tuesday with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in St.Josephs Church 29 South St. Barre. The burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Umass Memorial Barre Family Health Center 151 Worcester Rd.
